Commercial Description:
Dark and brooding, this smooth and mysteriously malty brew has a chocolate aroma and is pleasant to the palate. A traditional Engish brew, this was first made for the working class who favored beer.

3-4 oz draught sample. Slight pine notes in the nose. Not much in the way of roasted malts. Almost opaque dark drown with a nice creamy light tan head. Wow--black licorice. Some mild cocoa notes to start at the very start, but then leading way to a huge blast of black licorice. Some faint roasted malts come through at the end. Unfortunately, the licorice is way overpowering for a porter. Aroma needs some help.
