The aroma was metallic and of slight caramel. The flavor was slightly metallic and caramel, once you get by the extreamly high carbonation. The body is light to medium with a dry mouthfeel and extreamly, did I say extreamly, not to mention extreamly fizzy carbonation. I had to pour this one down the drain, it was so heavly carbed I could not stand to drink it.

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Dec 27, 2008 Pours a deep brown amber color with minimal head. Full bodied with tons and tons of carbonation, could barely pour it. Dark malts, chocolate, toffee, caramel, and some dark dried fruit flavors. Finishes a little drier, but not my style. jeremyd365 (109), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 2, 2008 This one poured a very very dark amber with little head. It smelled very sweet, perhaps of apples or even citrus. It went down smooth and finished very citrusy and hoppy. I would definitely recommend this brew and definitely have it again. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 27, 2008 Picked up a single 12-oz bottle from Three Cellars in St Francis, Wisconsin. Pours a semi-clear dark copper amber brew with a, good lord, the thickest and lumpy off-white head to come out of a 12-oz bottle - even after it being in the fridge for a few days. Reading all the previous reviews, I have been warned. Aroma of toasted dark caramel malt, raisins, vanilla, fruity character with a touch of roasted nuts. Taste is medium to full bodied, well-carbonated with a metallic texture with flavors of roasted caramel malt, raisins, mild brown sugar and a touch of herbal spice. Finish is slightly dry and metallic with a roasted caramel and raisin aftertaste that slowly disappears after the finish. jgb9348 (2507), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jan 15, 2008 Stupid sized tan head - BE AWARE (my experience obviously wasn’t the only one) with a chunky brown coloured body. Aroma of metal, raisins, nuts, cardboard and a bit of musty vanilla. Super carbonated mouthful of roasted malt, nuts, honey, caramel and some good oak. Aftertaste still has some carbonation, with a bunch of alcohol and a vanilla flavour that lasts. Overall, a bit too one-sided and mild for the style. Way too much head and over-bottle conditioned! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 14-January-2008. Cornfield (4951), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 5, 2007 Aggravating pour - even being careful, I was left with 7/8s of a glass of sudsy tan head that took too damned long to settle enough to drink some. As more body became visible, I could finally spot the deep brown body, nicely highlighted in red. The aroma is old caramel and some orchard fruit. Nice malty flavor, sweet but not overpowering, with a mild earthy bitterness. Dry finish. The alcohol is only present in the warmth the ale brings. I would probably have rated this higher had it not been such a pain to drink.

| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Oct 17, 2007 Deep, dark brown with a big foamy head. Slightly malty aroma with a dry bitterness. Flavor was very astringent. Some malt and fruit but really overpowered by the sour bitterness. Don’t know if this bottle was old or it was meant to taste that way but it wasn’t good. | 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Sep 15, 2007 Bottled. Poured deep, opaque brown with an explosive cap of beige head. The aroma picked up lots of dry dishwater detergent that almost overtook the warm caramel notes.. this was not good. The flavor had lots of problems.. oxidation, sour notes, and more nasties drive this to an undrinkable state.. sharp alcohol and sours at the finish.. some caramel and darker fruits in there, but they don’t stand up. Sharp and ugly on the palate with a lengthy, boozy finish. Bad stuff.
