A pleasant sweet brown sugar aroma with light treacle and fruity esters. In mouth, a sweet fruity dunkel with light molasses, some chocolate notes, a bit lighter than expected but very decent. On tap at brewpub Oct. 3 2009. TaktikMTL (2786), Montréal-Nord, Quebec, Canada

| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Oct 21, 2008 Objectively speaking:
An overly yeasty coke-coloured lager that could use extra cleanliness.
I like:
Not unlike Austrian Dunekl, this takes the sweetish fruity (grape and plums) road.
I dislike:
Minimal toast character that instead heads toward wet bread territory, leaving behind a loose texture, both highly thin and rather rooty, soapy even. A more than noticeable tartness detracts in the finish. A fruity and sweet example that is certainly no show-stopper with its couple of small faults and general lack of substance. jerc (3911), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 8, 2008 2008-06-23. Very dark brown body is near black in the dim light of the bar, tiny khaki head. (3+) Sweetish flavour of malt, light tart fruity notes remind of raspberries - I suspect either poorly cleaned lines or my imagination running wild. Peasant light bitterness throughout seems separate from the rest somehow, light tangy note to the finish, but pleasantly so, not in the usual way I mean when I say tangy. (6+) Mild aroma of malt, light house character to the yeasty notes, light notes of cereals and grains. (6+) Average palate. Decent, quaffable. On tap at the brewpub

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | May 5, 2008 Deep auburn pour with a one finger froth of mocha foam. Slightly toasty, nutty nose with a touch of roasted coffee and wood. Taste is watery roasty malts and burnt sugars with caramel and a light does of bittering hops towards the finish. A bit thin in the end, but not offensive and quite drinkable if nothing else. Cartoonkhaki (1150), Brantford, Ontario, Canada
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 29, 2008 Ruddy red/gold/black with a small tan head. The aroma has hints of roasted malts and a tiny hint of grass and dust. The aroma seemed more characterful then the actual flavour though. The flavour hits you quite mildly only to leave you a bit mildly disappointed after having enjoyed the aroma. The malts were slightly roasted in the flavour and the bitterness was small the palate was slightly watery. HogTownHarry (4003), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Feb 21, 2008 Draught. At the brewpub. Deep clear ruby-black with a small tan head. Nice mild roast/fruity malt combination, dry and lightly bitter - still that extract character, but it’s not obnoxious. The taste was incredibly mild, not much taste at all, really - vague, sort of burnt roastiness, kind of bitter - nothing to really hook into, really. Watery and still on the tongue with a very quick finish, but no aftertaste, just a whisper of extract tang - drinkable. blankboy (3204), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Feb 19, 2008 Draught at the brewpub. Pours a very deep ruby with a small diminishing tan head. Very mild aroma of sweet malt, caramel and fruit. Watery flavour is sweet with some light toastiness, caramel and no hops to speak of. Light bodied. Bah, average at best.
