joss (3294), Garching b. München, Germany Jun 21, 2008 Can, hauled back by Jörg, danke! Ok so I am just back from a 10km run - best scenario for this beer. Golden low carbonation and head. Metallic, chemical aroma, grainy malt. Very lightbodied, straw malt, rusty hops, light citric finish. Doesnt offend. BückDich (4618), Boise, Idaho, USA Sep 29, 2007 Can @ Sumo: Light malt and grass, citrus, funky and thin. Plenty of adjuncts. Not the type of beer you really expect anything from, so when you get a little malt kick in the palate, you’re excited. dickierambone (14), Danville, Virginia, USA Jun 12, 2007 An all adjunct brew to avoid the heavy Japanese taxing on malt. Considering this a zero malt, all extract and enzyme beer it is a very good product. It appeals to the mass market so no great flavor or aroma, just a good session beer that is light on the Japanese pocket book. Another important point is this beer is safe for people with celiac disease. lumberjack (156), Michigan, USA Mar 2, 2007 Updated: Aug 21, 2007350 ml can...Everything written on this can is in Japanese, so I really had no idea what to expect. The can poured clear and golden with a quickly disappearing head. Smell is of pure skunk and possibly soybeans. Palate is extremely weak and flat, as is the taste. I can pick up a light soy aftertaste, but otherwise this isn’t much better than really foul water. The worst, most offensive "beer" I’ve ever had, period. DarkMagus (414), San Jose, California, USA Jan 31, 2007 Ok now this is interesting. Or perhaps I should just describe it as "strange". From what I can gather, the ingredients list "soybean protein". Whatever that means. The aroma is a little bit sweet, but very much on the funky side of things. It must be the soy. It’s a bit like a musty tatami. Rapidly diminishing head, which is strange, since most Japanese macros have an unnaturally long-lasting head. The head on this beer disappears almost instantly. Deep golden color. Very odd flavors of (light) maltiness, some strange funky soy-ness, and some grassiness. Light and watery body. Strange in a bad way. But worth drinking once, just for the novelty of it.
