Commercial Description:
Coppery brown with rich, malty character-this perfectly brewed amber ale gets its good looks from the dark-roasted crystal malt that we import from England. To give it some Western flair, it is moderately hopped with hops straight from the Yakima Valley in Washington. ABV 5.7% Bitterness 25 IBU. Contract brewed under the brewer name Hopfen Und Malz for Costco by the Gordon Biersch Brewing Company.

Bottle: Pours a clear amber color with a little head. The nose is malty with a vague metallic light huskiness. Light hops show through with a touch of roast underneath. The flavor is creamy and caramelly with a balanced flavor, medium body and all around average everything.

Bottle from Costco - Cincy. Poured a clear dark copper color with a large fizzy off-white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate hop and sweet malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and very soft carbonation. Medium malty sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. This is an above average sweet brew.

Bottle from Costco! Dark copper color with a decent off-white head. Nice roast caramel aroma. Medium body with lightly frothy carbonation. Flavor is caramel with mild spiciness. Mildly bitter. Those Yakima hops are working overtime to help out this sucker. Worth drinking.

Contracted at Utica, NY- FX- Matt. Pours a nice clear amber with a lasting medium head. Aroma is nutty caramel, mostly clean with some deep toast. Flavor is a mostly caramel, clean, easy drinking, low hops, some floral hints, mostly toasty. Clean nice malty finish without being too crystal-ly maltish. Not too Saranac like with that slick finish- not a bad amber ale at all.

Tallahassee, Fl - Costco - 12 oz bottle - part of a 24 bottle variety pak for $18.99 - not a bad deal. Light copper pour with a slight bubbly white head. Aroma has some nutty accents, a hint of coffee and some citrus. Flavor has some decent subtle bitterness, some nuttiness, and a hint of citrus. Mouthfeel is clean and smooth. Not bad for the price and my fridge is full of beer for a few weeks!
