Commercial Description:
An authentic German style lager brewed with pilsner, dark-roasted Munich, and dark caramel malts. The result is a deep, golden-colored beer with smooth body. The best ingredients create the best beer. We use a bottom-fermenting yeast strain from the Weihenstephan yeast bank from Freising, Germany, and aroma hops from the renowned Hallertau region in Southern Germany. ABV 5.5% Bitterness 22 IBU. Contract brewed under the brewer name Hopfen Und Malz for Costco by the Gordon Biersch Brewing Company.

Sulphury lager aromas, grains with traces of caramel. Pours golden blonde, crystal clear. Actually not as bad as i thought it would be. There’s really just not a lot of flavor, cereal grains, mild caramel, with little hints of grassy hops.

Gold. White carbonation. Stale grains and a bit of petting zoo on the nose. Flavor adds some biscuity elements. Basic lager. Walking a tigh rope between offensive and not.

Serving: 12 oz. bottle. Appearance: Light amber color with a pillowy white head. Decent head retention. Aroma: Light grassy hop notes and some cracker notes on the malt side. Flavor: Nice balance between the grassy hops and bready malt. Slight malt sweetness pairs well against generous hops. Really not bad! Palate: Medium carbonation with a medium mouthfeel and a medium, slightly bitter finish. Overall: Not sure why people are bashing this one. It is exactly what you would expect from Costco. Good quality at a very affordable price. I would take this over BMC any day of the week. More importantly, it really isn’t a bad beer compared other craft brews.

Pours a mid/light copper with a thick, white, attractive head. Aroma is sweet yeast and corriander - very much like a hefe. Moderately thick body. Flavor starts moderately sweet and caramel, but takes an odd turn towards bitterness. Ends bitter, dry, and disappointing.

Bottle: Clear gold with fizzy head. Light flavor of husk and malt. Some biscuit and up front fruity hops. Tinny metallic mouthfeel and a yeasty finish. Fairly generic.

This beer is amber in color with a watery flavor. The taste isn’t that bad, very drinkable. The aroma is like a mild Belgian.

Bottle from the KIRKLAND Costco, thanks scrizz! Pours kinda dark for a PALE lager, somewhat lacy white head. A bit of bread and grass in the aroma. Nutty taste. Nice rounded body, medium carbonation and crisp finish. This beer seems to be a lot closer to a Marzen than a pale lager.
