Commercial Description:
An authentic German style lager brewed with pilsner, dark-roasted Munich, and dark caramel malts. The result is a deep, golden-colored beer with smooth body. The best ingredients create the best beer. We use a bottom-fermenting yeast strain from the Weihenstephan yeast bank from Freising, Germany, and aroma hops from the renowned Hallertau region in Southern Germany. ABV 5.5% Bitterness 22 IBU. Contract brewed under the brewer name Hopfen Und Malz for Costco by the Gordon Biersch Brewing Company.

An ok brew. Prefer its malty taste to that of the bigger US brewery lagers. Very weak smell, decent but semi-cloudy appearance. The flavor, at least while cold, is pretty darned good but I feel it could use a bit more carbonation. As with the other Kirkland ales, its a very good deal for the price.

12oz bottle. Aroma of wet grains and beer. Gold body with decent head. Wet malted grains and mild to medium bittering. Maybe too much of the wet grain malt little sluge factor there and filling brew.

Aroma: Malt aroma was decent nothing too much.
Appearance: Golden in color, Hazy with a thin head.
Flavor: Wheat malt flavor then it was light after that.
Palate: Dry finish, with a Decent Mouthfeel.
Overall: Nothing over the top just something to wet the whistle.

12 oz bottle part of costco sampler.. pours a smokey golden color with a very quicklyi dissipating head.. smells of over roasted hops and a bit on the stale side.. initial hit is that of uneventful malty pine with no indication of flavor.. the full sip is extremely disapointing as a metallic taste creeps in.. reminds me of a macrobrewed poor lager.. not much better than a pabst...seriously.. wont have another one of these.. my palate is left with a bitter, nasty taste...

12oz bottle. Dark gold with a lasting head. Lightly kinda grainy and buttery aroma. the flavor is really light on the malt with some sweetness and light balancing hops that leave a slight bitter finish. Light bodied. easy to down but not really worth ever getting again, even at eighteen bucks a sixer.

Bottle: This was one depressing brew... I can’t beleive the effort it must have taken to trap the true aroma of skunk lager in a bottle. Smells bad and tasted slightly less bad. I just didn’t find a single thing in this beer to warrant rating it above the minimum. If it had been me that bought this I would have returned it.

Nearly as bad as the amber ale- with all the same problems minus the sweet funk of the caramel sweetness. Almost has a decent pilsen malt character but is ruined my a strong metallic alkaline character.

Caramel malt aroma with the herbal smell of hallertau. Pours a clear light amber color with a clear apple juice hue and minimal white head. Smooth buttery hop taste of barley grain malt. Light bodied, buttery and resinous feel, with lively smooth carbonation. Definite session beer the butter hop taste is not that strong.
