Commercial Description:
An authentic German style lager brewed with pilsner, dark-roasted Munich, and dark caramel malts. The result is a deep, golden-colored beer with smooth body. The best ingredients create the best beer. We use a bottom-fermenting yeast strain from the Weihenstephan yeast bank from Freising, Germany, and aroma hops from the renowned Hallertau region in Southern Germany. ABV 5.5% Bitterness 22 IBU. Contract brewed under the brewer name Hopfen Und Malz for Costco by the Gordon Biersch Brewing Company.

Bottle: Clear gold with fizzy head. Light flavor of husk and malt. Some biscuit and up front fruity hops. Tinny metallic mouthfeel and a yeasty finish. Fairly generic.

Bottle from Costco - Cincy. Poured a clear copper color with a large frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate tart citrus and sweet malt aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium malty bitersweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met.

Bottle from Costco. Orange gold color with a decent white head. Aromas of grain and fruit. Near medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor is a bit weird. There’s fruit and hop spice, and malt, but there’s something extra. Linoleum paste came to mind. Quality product, but hard to pin down the extra flavor.

Bottle. Amber pour. Short white head. Aroma is caramel, grassy hops, light toffee, fruit and nuts trail mix and buttery biscuit. Taste is sweet malt, caramel, fruit and nut trail mix and light grassy hops. Body is medium with a bubbly carbonation. Ends with more caramel, light toffee, dried fruit, nuts and grassy hops. Not too bad!

Tallahassee, Fl - Costco - 12 oz bottle - part of a 24 bottle variety pak for $18.99 - not a bad deal. Medium copper pour with a slight bubbly white head. Aroma has some toffee accents, some tootsie-roll like cheap chocolate and a hint of wort. Flavor has some toffee, a hint of chocolate and some ripening vegetable notes. Mouthfeel is slightly metallic and starchy. Not bad for the price and my fridge is full of beer for a few weeks!

Aroma is a little skunky grassy with some sweetness and grainy/bready malts. Pours a darker golden color with a thin head. The flavor is lightly sweet and grassy with an unobtrusive crisp finish. Boring, but not the worst thing I have ever had either.
