I loved it, unlike most raters and beer snobs. We just love to crack on mass retailers and macro brews. It had a delicious malt aroma and flavor, not overpoweringly bitter or sweet, just balanced. I could drink this ALL DAY and be quite drunk and happy. Certainly better than most other "Pale Lagers." But that’s my opinion, what’s yours? Unibonger (53), Mount Shasta, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 21, 2009 An ok brew. Prefer its malty taste to that of the bigger US brewery lagers. Very weak smell, decent but semi-cloudy appearance. The flavor, at least while cold, is pretty darned good but I feel it could use a bit more carbonation. As with the other Kirkland ales, its a very good deal for the price. Nebulor (109), , California, USA

Pours a clear light amber color with a clear apple juice hue and minimal white head.
Smooth buttery hop taste of barley grain malt.
Light bodied, buttery and resinous feel, with lively smooth carbonation.
Definite session beer the butter hop taste is not that strong.

Appearance: Light amber color with a pillowy white head. Decent head retention.
Aroma: Light grassy hop notes and some cracker notes on the malt side.
Flavor: Nice balance between the grassy hops and bready malt. Slight malt sweetness pairs well against generous hops. Really not bad!
Palate: Medium carbonation with a medium mouthfeel and a medium, slightly bitter finish.
Overall: Not sure why people are bashing this one. It is exactly what you would expect from Costco. Good quality at a very affordable price. I would take this over BMC any day of the week. More importantly, it really isn’t a bad beer compared other craft brews. VitaminR (434), Colorado, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 2, 2009 Pepper grass nose with some slight nectarine biscuits. Deep amber/gold color, thick frothy head. Slight citrus jam cracker sweetness, restrained bitterness for balance. Good carbonation, medium body, crisp, but lengthy spicy hop finish. Easy to drink, some nice features, and finish really stands out. A simple beer with some sophistication. bitbucket (2033), Kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 17, 2009 Bottle from the KIRKLAND Costco, thanks scrizz! Pours kinda dark for a PALE lager, somewhat lacy white head. A bit of bread and grass in the aroma. Nutty taste. Nice rounded body, medium carbonation and crisp finish. This beer seems to be a lot closer to a Marzen than a pale lager. WabashMan (802), Noblesville, Indiana, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 18, 2009 I’ve not had too many beers from this brewer, yet this one seemed superior to the others (though that’s not saying all that much!). Nose was decent...lightly hoppy with yeast notes. Flavor was also ok, but unremarkable, with the same light hoppiness coming through. I’d certainly take this over a BMC offering, but it’s hardly a brew to seek out, if you’re looking for something in tradition of fine German lagering.
