Commercial Description:
Here is your German lesson for the day-Hefeweizen translates to mean “wheat and yeast,” and our beer takes that to heart. Containing a high percentage of malted wheat and a proprietary yeast strain, we have produced an American version of the classic German specialty. A high level of effervescence and a low level of bitterness make this beer truly refreshing. ABV 5.5% Bitterness 16 IBU. Contract brewed under the brewer name Hopfen Und Malz for Costco by the Gordon Biersch Brewing Company.

12 oz bottle. pours a deep amber/golden color. Moderate head. Aroma very faint and malty with some wheat. Flavor is very bitter and flat with some maltiness. Palate is rough, body is full. Not much to say, very average beer.

Bottle from Costco - Cincy. Poured a hazy yellow color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate citrus and light spice aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. This is another just above average drinkable brew.

Really a sub-par hefeweizen. While the appearance is very nice, and something that might be more suitable to an IPA/APA, the other parts of the beer are lacking. The nose seems a bit weak and, unfortunately, skunky. Flavors are too light. Palate is very short.

Tallahassee, Fl - Costco - 12 oz bottle - part of a 24 bottle variety pak for $18.99 - not a bad deal. Dark golden pour, slightly murky, with a sticky white head. Aroma has some brief hard candy sweetness to it - but no real hefe qualities. Flavor has some dull banana sweetness, and just a hint of bubblegum and some ripening vegetable notes. Mouthfeel is slightly metallic and starchy. Sub-par - expected a bit better from Gordon Biersch.

This is possibly the worst beer I’ve ever had. There is nothing even remotely resembling a Hefeweisen coming out of this bottle. Flavor is bready and that’s about it. No fruit or wheat flavors. No yeast. Nothing. It is gross.

Gold. White carbonation. Aroma is similar to the German lager, but with added regurgitation elements. Similar flavor, hints of wheat. Not enjoyable but fun to try considering the source.

Wheat bread aroma, no sign of citrus or banana or clove? Pours clear blonde with no head, maybe it should be called krystalweizen. Thats not too good, no german yeast characteristics what so ever, wheat, bready flavors, very clean. Not good.

Bottle. Hazy amber beer with a cream colored head. Wheat, spice, and yeast aroma. Wheat/malt, light spice, and light citrus flavor. Medium body. Malt, wheat, and yeast linger.
