bottle from Hypernova, Praha-Nové Butovice. Non pasteurised. Clear golden yellow colour, large white head with the typical aroma of a desítka. Malty body with some good hops, very well balanced bitter-sweet character. Astonishingly full-flavoured for a 10° beer. Well-matured, clean and crisp with the typical Czech beer flavours. A perfect Desítka.

My Bottom Line:
Crunchy cereals dovetail into herbal hops in this überprofessional, filtered Svetly Vycepni.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A dollop of foam garnishes the coppery gold.
-The barley signature is long and crisp.
-This is so clean, you can easily imagine watery canals between the maltiness.
-The Saaz touch becomes citrusy at times.
-This is eminently drinkable and seems to want to emulate what the Czech macros do, only slightly better.

On tap at Berounsky Medved, Beroun. Don’t ask.

Back from a Czech Republic pub-crawl this is part of my express ratings for the “typical” Světlý 11°- (Czech light Pils), Světlý 12°+ (Czech Pils), Polotmavý (Czech Amber Lagers) and Tmavý (Czech Black Lagers). Non-typical beers will receive personalized descriptions after the express ratings.
-------- /> How: Tap at Pivovar Berounsky Medved, Beroun, Czech Repulic
The look: Clear golden blonde body with a large white head
To me a typical Czech Světlý 11° and below is: Well malted body with lots of smooth cereals and a light fresh honey sweetness flavour. Some fruity notes (more fruity notes than in the 12°+) with mostly citrus fruits and a little lemon. The finish is somewhat herbal and citrusy with but unlike the 12°+ there is only a hint of the dry grassy bitterness usually associated with noble/Saaz hops. Bitterness is mild and does not really play a big role in the overall flavours spectrum. A light meringue sensation and an overall freshness impression.. Carbonation is typically very soft. These beers are low in intensity but very refreshing and drinkable in scarily large quantities.
This one: As above but ultra clean with a light vanilla ice-cream touch. I suspect the low average of this beer is because of the bottle because the tap was damn refreshing and well done.

The aroma is sweet and very fresh with notes of grass, hops, and hints of caramel. The color is orange and it has a beutiful long lasting white head, though the body is thin. The flavor is of caramel, brewingmash, grass, hops, before it ends on a rather dry hoppyness on the tongue.

dark yellow, with very frothy head. very malty and slightly sour, which might be due to being one month past the use-by. not much in the way of hops apart from a slight spiciness in the finish. smooth and soft though. a shadow of a good beer.

Bottle from Kaufland Mlada Boleslav. Golden, small to medium-sized lacy white head. Light to moderate sweet-malty nose with a touch of vegetables. Light sweet-bitter flavour with a detectable delicate malty base, light bodied. Short, a bit watery, bitter-sweet finish. O.K., but a bit flat.........
