Is it supposed to taste like urine soaked gym shorts? Is that cabbage and asparagus flavor intended? Is this some sort of joke? Cornfield (4972), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA

Actually, though, it’s quite drinkable, if a bit timid. Very, very soft in the mouth, this densely headed golden Pilsener. Faint aroma of flowery and earthy hops over a subdued bready malt. The flavor is dominated by the hops (which appeals to me) and the malts turn into lightly toasted white bread. Nice bitter finish. Wish they’d beef this up some.

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Feb 23, 2006 A light golden liquid with a somewhat wispy white head that settles over time to a cm or two of bubbles. Some relatively large bubbles still cling to the glass for patches of bubble wrap inside the glass. Aromas of fresh bread and clover honey. Fairly sweet all the way through. Some wintergreen near the finish. Linger returns to pale malt and light honey. Fairly thick feel, but enough carbonation to help lighten things out. A decent brew, that one could spend an afternoon with and watch the world go by, but still somewhat boring. BückDich (4857), McCall, Idaho, USA

The flavor is dry and dusty, a bit manuarish, not that good. Finishes hoppy, strong alcohol and spice. Ernest (4509), Boulder, Colorado, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Dec 3, 2007 Aroma of pale malt and honey notes. Amber tinged goldoen color with a white head that turned into pin spots of lace. Medium body with near creamy carbonation. Flavor is a cross between pale malt and caramel. No real strong hop, just weak noble hop. Not especially sweet, but rather sweet for the style. The finish is nice. A little bitter builds. It’s a pleasant drink, heavier than many lagers. Seems to be a bit of spice or herb - maybe that’s the winter thing. Overall it is perhaps the lager version of a winter warmer.
