Ingy (100), candler, North Carolina, USA Feb 2, 2008 bottle. Decent head, full lager taste. Good balance of malts and hops. Better than the "dark beer". Not what I expected for a winter brew, but good.
BillKismet (1518), Seattle, Washington, USA Sep 29, 2008 Tan-bronze with decent head. Aroma of candy corn and caramel malt and grains. Flavor is similar to the aroma, but a bit more reserved. Slight caramel and candy corn notes, mild graininess. Not bad DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA Aug 11, 2008 15-Jul-08 (500-ml bottle: Purchased 03-Apr-08 for $2.25 from liquidsolutions.biz) Lighter in style than expected for a "winter lager", this malty beer is bready and mildly toasty with an odd buttery character that is rarely found in lagers. A very gentle Noble hop flavor and bitterness is nicely balanced against the malt base. Light-medium in body with gentle carbonation and a smooth, easy mouthfeel. Bready, grainy and very lightly toasty nose with no hop aroma. Clear and golden in color with a small, whitish head that holds a thin layer throughout most of the session. Not as "wintery" as I want from a winter beer, and the butteriness is out of place, but it’s tasty enough to finish the bottle. Not a repeat purchase though... FROTHINGSLOSH (1612), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA May 11, 2008 Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bright golden color with a large white soapy head. The aroma was sweetish, tangy and lightly malty. The flavor was tangy and bitter with a hint of butterscotch and a dry tangy finish. Beerdedone (1663), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA May 3, 2008 Bottle. Pours a golden color with a small white head. Grainy aroma with corn, grass, metal, and mustiness. Flavor follows the aroma with a light bitterness and metallic notes unclemattie (1747), Georgia, USA Mar 12, 2008 500ml bottle. Clear, Light orange, golden color. White foamy head. Aroma of fresh sweet wort and a hint of mustiness. Really the aroma resembles a Märzen. Flavor is an interesting malt and big bitterness. Lots of sweetness and a bold hop. This is made for American tastes. Not exactly to my liking but it is very bitter. For a European Lager, it lakes balance. Lingering bitterness,Medium bodied. Maybe different yeast profile and this would male a very good Pale Ale!
