dirkbreedveld (225), Netherlands Nov 26, 2004 Almost black in color, with a thiny head. Very roasted malts. Almost like a dark sweet ryebread. Very nice aroma’s of bayleaf and bitters in the aftertaste. turbothy (619), Nørrebronx, Denmark Apr 12, 2006 Fruity, malty aroma with spices. Dark brown with small head and nice lacing. Full-bodied with malt, a hint of liquorice, plum and cinnamon. Excellent, if a bit too carbonated. MiP (6029), Flensburg, Germany Mar 15, 2006 Updated: Oct 15, 2006Bottle. Yeasty aroma with some fresh hop notes. Burnt sugar. Almost black colour with a red shine. Very small light brown head. Roasted, peppery flavour and peppery aftertaste. Very nice. M0RHI (1026), Luxembourg, Luxembourg Aug 6, 2006 Bottle, BSF, GBBF 06. Very dark ruby, no head. Big on sweetness, malts, some sugar. Fruit, plums. Some soap, heavy carbonation. Big malt on tongue, sweet. Coating on the palate. Enjoyable DaSilky1 (1627), San Diego, California, USA Aug 22, 2008 Pours a dark reddish brown color though sits in the glass a few shades darker and topped with a pretty solid sheet of microscopic dark tan bubbles who like to paint lacing upon the glass. Cherry accented roasty notes in the nose with a touch of stale hops and a smidgen of mildewy books. A silky mouthfeel, the beer caresses the tongue with great precision as sensual waves of chocolate cherries pass. Concentration on fruits and chocolate and a little less attention to roasted malts..a likable change of pace. Slightly tangy characteristics as well. Growing but balanced bitterness in the finish. I quite like the silky feel, the chocolatey cherry flavors, the lack of over-roastedness, and the balanced bitter rounding out. This is actually a damn nice beer.
