SHIG (1731), Oberoffligen, Germany Sep 28, 2008 Bottle: Poured a rusty brown orange with a off white head. Aroma is oranges, spice and some sweetness. Taste is sweet with fruit, yet still has a pepper spice finish. My tongue is warm and pleased.
Miver (477), WillowStreet, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 20, 2008 12 oz bottle (May09) 7% abv. Poured clear golden amber in color with a large beige head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of fruity esters, Belgian yeast, grain, light spice and sweet citrus notes. Tastes of wet grain, dough, orange citrus fruit, sweeter malt base, honey and spices. Black pepper comes out in the finish, but this was quite enjoyable. NoiZe (1055), Mooi Zeist, Netherlands Sep 30, 2008 Amber colored brew. Peppery, spicy aroma. Fruity flavor, sweetness, some honey in the end. A bit malty and some yeast. sayravai (3252), Helsinki, Finland Sep 28, 2008 (Bottled, 7% ABV) Slightly hazy orange with a smallish, white, quite lasting head. Aroma of honeyish, pale malt, yeast, and hints of alcohol. Peppery-spicy, pale-malty, reasonably hoppy, neutral-dryish flavor with quite strong yeastiness and some acidity. Medium body with soft carbonation. Some similarity (hopwise) to Saison Dupont. Indeed a pleasant and refreshing exception to the boring Dutch bock style - although it’s only a bock by name. Me liked! Borresteijn (721), Amstelveen, Netherlands Jul 21, 2008 Sampled @ Pint Meibockfestival. Hazy orangeblond beer. Spicy aroma, yeast, malts. Taste is spicy, yeast, like the IJ beers, slightly bitter, malty, dry finish. Nice mouthfeel.
