Maria (3696), Thisted, Denmark May 9, 2008 From tap sitting in front of Klosterbräu. The color is a beautiful red amber and the head is huge and creamy. The aroma has notes of roasted malt and hints of coffee. The flavour has sweetness, that is nicely balanced by a citrussy bitterness, that develops more and more dry. It has notes of caramel and roasted malt. It’s not bad, but towards the end it grows a bit stale.
MrRomero (1865), Wiesbaden-Biebrich, Germany Jun 19, 2008 500ml bottle: poured light brown with a thin white head. Mild aroma of caramel malt. Flavor is light with slight roasted malt, hops and caramel. Mild carbonation. Pretty decent. Mes_and_Sim (3869), London, Greater London, England May 22, 2008 A Mes rate: Gravity serving at Zeitgeist. Golden amber with a thin white rim. Good German malt aroma, very earthy and peaty with some lovely mellow hops. Reminds me a lot of Mill Quarter hops. Restrained but very noseable. Flavour is spicy and has plenty of malt. Tangy and earthy with a very dry finish. Interesting beer. Ernest (4169), Boulder, Colorado, USA Feb 14, 2008 Klosterbräu brewpub, Bamberg.
Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly lasting.
Body is light amber.
Aroma is moderately malty (toasted grain, caramel), lightly hoppy (flowers, herbs).
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately bitter.
Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation.
Didn’t quite rock me, but it was damned solid. downender (1395), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England Nov 17, 2007 On tap at the brewpub 6/11/07. Copper coloured with a decent white head. Slightly sweet malt aroma. Flavour was a bit nutty with some caramel sweetness and a dry finish. Ok.
