Maria (4973), Thisted, Denmark Oct 1, 2008 Draught at the brewpub. The color is murky orange and the head is creamy. The aroma has notes of yeast used for baking bread and dough. The flavour has a light sweetness and is slightly dry. It has notes of caramel and completely lacks all the characteristics for a weiss, so I’m disappointed. Papsoe (11421), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 12, 2008 (On tap) Very unclear golden with a dense white and lacing head. Aroma is pure yeast and nothing else really. Medium body with a soft mouthfeel, but very few Hefe esters - if any at all. The finish is dry. Wonder if this was made without a Hefe yeast. Very disappointing. 020708 MiP (6732), Flensburg, Germany Aug 11, 2006 Draught. Cloudy golden/orange colour. Small stable white head. Quite bitter, sourish bitterness, astringent. No esters, spices or lemon flavour. Vinous sourness and thin mouthfeel. Strange Weizen. Hildigöltur (5055), Kĝbenhavn Ĝ, Denmark Nov 14, 2005 Draught at the brewpub. Hazy golden coloured. Mild flowery aroma. Sweet fruity flavour. Quite smooth. The finish is bitter. No yeastiness noticeable. Very different and good German Weißbier.
