Pours brown-orange with a small head and good lacing. Flavor is hoppy, citrus, with a carmel malt finish. There is something there that just isn’t right, but it isn’t a big problem. Palate is tart, crisp, and a bit metallic. Not a bad IPA. BBB63 (4271), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Feb 11, 2006 Bottle from Jason and served in a pint glass: Poured a nice amber glow topped but a moderate off-white frothy head and okay lace. The aroma has notes of dusty yeast esters, caramel and bready malts, grassy hops, and a bit of sweet syrup. The taste starts moderately bitter and citric with an metallic background throughout. While not completely balanced, the malt does show for some complexity. There is a distilled grain and corn alcoholic flavor on the finish that detracts from the profile. The feel is sharp up front but the metallic tone shortens the enjoyment factor. I am not sure what the were going for here, but they need practice brewing big beers. One, this is need of some fresh hop plants and a little less fusel character. Thaichile (599), 10aFly, New Jersey, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Feb 5, 2006 Bottle. Floral hops and malt on the nose. Fairly nice head, but not very tasty. Musky and bitter, thick and malty with some sweetness. A failed attempt to provide balance between hops and malts. Hope they improve for the 101st Anniversary. 6 of 6 from Kramer17801 TheBeerNinja (137), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 1, 2006 Pours a deep amber with a tannish off- white head that fades but stays around a bit. Nose is floral with hops with plenty of sweet malts adding to the overall aroma. Flavor is bit sweet, I assume to get the abv up so high. Lacks in the flavor department as far as hops are concerned. I’d classify this as session beer that would kick your ass. TheBeerGod (3171), Newport News, Virginia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 29, 2006 Bottle courtesy of hopdog! Pours a deep ruddy amber with almost no head. Nose is hoppy and semisweet. Light alcohol notes, bit of toffee, melon, orange, and light grapefruit. Taste is hoppy and sweet as well. Orange notes come through along with light toffee, caramel, light pine, light berries, maple syrup and grapefruit. Body is slick and bitter with light carbonation and a hint of alcohol warmth. Finishes with bitter hops, citrus fruits, light caramel, melons, berries, grapefruit, and sweet malts. Not bad! KUEric (632), Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA

As is the case with Stegmaier’s Anniversary IPA. It isn’t as hop-heavy as some west coast brews, but still quite good. I actually appricated it being an IIPA and it not being all hops all the time. It is kind of medium bodied and palated, which is nice in the world of over the top, in your face IIPAs. I really quite liked this beer, and was expecting it to be one of the more average beers in my trade with Kramer17801 but it was quite good! There are some nice malt undertones to even out the brew. jimmack (1221), Nutley, New Jersey, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 23, 2006 12oz. bottle. Clear, dark amber color with a small off white head. Aroma of citrus hops, with a bit of pine and caramel also. Flavor starts off with citrus hops before the mildly sweet caramel malt kicks in. Did not notice the alcohol and was surprised to find it 8.2%. CaptainCougar (5530), Rockville, Maryland, USA

Fresh floral grapefruity hoppy aroma has some toasted toffee and hints of strawberry. Body starts with a lightly sticky and sweet caramel maltiness well balanced with lots of fresh green bittering and flavor hops. A nice IPA.
