Espically if you are flat broke!!!
Seriously though. I grew up in the late 80’s Drinking this stuff for 7.99 a 24pack. From 17 to 20Years old I must have drank a thousand of these golden cans.
The taste is... Special, but after 10 or so, who cares?
I worked as a landscaper, and my friend was a pool cleaner, eery day after work, it was a case of Golden Anniversary Beer, and a liter of Vodka. The whole mess was less then $15.00.
We’d drink the stuff up, and move on to a bar.
Those were the days...

It’s an above average golden American lager. Standard fare to be sure but it’s sure as hell better than Busch or High Life or Milwaukee’s Best. Not a bad beer - for what it is - a cheap American lager. Mind you, this is no Anchor Steam but compared to others in its style and even higher priced brands of this style and category, its a good value. Good flavor and appearance. It’s actually pretty good. Frank (1071), Chicago, Illinois, USA

They see the fact that it comes in cans and cost $3 for six and give it a point five. That's hardly the kind of behavior we encourage here at ratebeer...
Anyway, it pours a rather nice golden color with a decent head of mostly small bubbles. In terms of flavor and aroma, it's more in the league of American-style lagers than what most people would expect from an ale. That being said, it's really very flavorful and easy drinking. So much so that you could almost mistake it for a pilsner or maybe a helles given that the hop presence is pretty low. Try this with an open mind and you'll be surprised. Or, you can be pig-headed and not enjoy it if it makes you feel superior to pan cheap beers without regard to their quality. hotdogs (13), chicago, Illinois, USA

the beer has a small bubble head, that holds, and is quite a pale straw color. saaz on the nose also with thin carmel, simple and understated.
the beer is rather sweet, but, contrary to other reviewers, not corny really at all. i actually get a fair floral ale flavor after it warms up a bit. all in all you really can’t do better for 2.50 a six pack, not even hamm’s golden draft comes close. the nose reminds me of staropromen. all in all a nice surprise Perdue46 (60), USA
