Plastic growler. A deep red beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of oatmeal as well as light notes of butter and diacethyl. The flavor is sweet with light notes of roasted malt, oatmeal, butter, and diacethyl, leading to a dry roasted finish. The mouthfeel is smooth.

Handbottled from tap. Dark brown coloured with a small beige head. Sweet and roasted aroma of caramel with notes of dried fruits and butterscotsch. Light roasted flavour of caramel with notes of chocolate and hops. Roasted and hoppy finish.

From 1 gallon container. Pours dark brown to black to a little orange glare with a small white head. Mild spiced and roasted malty aroma with a light butterish touch. Vague vanilla touch. Smooth texture. Hard roasted malt favour with a distinct acidic note coming through. Light liqourice touch into the finish. Subdued bitterness and loads of roasted malt impressions. Almost dark breadish.

Sampled at the ’09 Great Alaska Beer and Barley Wine Festival. Opaque beer with a frothy brown head. Nice chocolatey nose with some ash and faint cherry. Smooth oatmeal feel to it with an almost Count Chocula cereal chocolate taste. Some lactose and burnt grains in the finish. I could drink this all night long.
