Bottle thanks to DragonStout. Poured a thick brown color with ruby highlights and a thin tan head that receded to a ring. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, and light fruit. Lightly sweet malt entry leads into a relatively bland, chalky chocolate flavor with a bit of fruitiness on the finish. Smooth, but somewhat watery. Not really bad, just pretty plain. Thanks Brian.

Bottle.Appealing big, frothy tan head atop a black body. The aroma is full with roasted malt, chocolate and caramel with hints of creamed coffee and caramel and a touch of smoke. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. The finish is moderately to heavily bitter with a bit of sweetness. Fairly long lasting. Medium body and lively carbonation. The texture is between watery and creamy — a nice balance. Well constructed.

Total black, half-inch brown head that fades to big-bubble scum and lasts considerably. Aroma a bit subdued, dark chocolate, roastiness, earthy hops. Excellent taste: dark chocolate and roasted malt interplay, caramelization, coffee in the middle palate and coffee-bitter finish. Very slightly sweet upfront. Rasping on the tongue, aftertaste has a slight lactose-like sweetness. Moderate to high carbonation, sits well on the tongue, not watery but not thick.

Color of this beer is deep black. Head’s color is like creamy mocha and it is quite thin but lasting. Aromas are dark chokolate, roasted malts. Flavors are roughly roasted malts and rye bread, a little bit of metallic nuance. You can find a hint of chokolate from the flavor also. Nice bitterness in the aftertaste. Palate is quite smooth, slightly carbonated and gooey.

The aroma of this tar colored beer is exquisite. It smells of rich chocolate, almost like a chocolate cheesecake, with overtones of roasted coffee. The flavor is more robust, there is a strong, smoky roasted flavor and some bitter kick in the background. Some flavor almost reminescent of powdered espresso beans is noticeable. The finish is all roasted maltiness and coffee flavor. This is a great porter, which is full bodied but drinkable, and smooth yet potently flavorful. Seek this out if you enjoy dark beers.

Pours black with a large brown head. Strong, malty, roasted taste with aromas of coffee, smoke and dark chocolate. Surprisingly thin mouthfeel but definitely not watery. Slightly carbonated.
