As it waterfalls out of the bottle you can tell this beer is very dark brown but in the glass it is pitch black. The head struggles to form upwards through this beer’s viscosity, but manages a nice inch of foam. It leaves a thin smattering of lacing before settling to an amorphous cap atop the liquid.
The nose is bitter chocolate, with a sizable dose of roastiness. Some espresso comes through as well.
Taste is far more roasty than the aroma, with some unsweetened chocolate and a charcoal/metallic finish. Pretty classic porter here. I don’t get a lot of dark fruit anywhere in this beer.
Carbonation is pretty smooth but the finish is sticky. The metallic note also hampers the drinkability. juiceisloose (671), Windermere, Florida, USA

The aroma is of roasted malts, some smoke, sweet and dark chocolate, and a hint of coffee as well. The taste is a perfect blend of chocolate, roastiness, coffee, and raisins. Some bitter hops on the back end balance things out and keep it from being overly sweet. The body is very thick with a viscous mouthfeel that leads to sweet finish with roastiness left behind. I could drink this porter over and over. This is a great brew. MaltOMeal (653), Land of Sugar, Texas, USA

Smell is of coffee and some alcohol. Taste was coffee with some chocolate and roasty malts. Towards the end it tasted a little like cola. Mouthfeel was medium. This was a nice representation of the style. JCB (1792), Durham, North Carolina, USA

A big thick pour, with just a trace of carbonation still around. Heavy peat and roast malt aroma, like this one’s been sitting in old wood for centuries. Nice big chocolate malts give it some life, with a slightly smoky background. A good one. kseecs16 (907), Naperville, Illinois, USA

Nice big cocoa colored head on this opaque dark brown brew. Appears stout like with little lacing. Potent malty aroma with hints of cherry and chocolate. Big roast flavor, bitter finish with burnt toast character. Medium bodied with a strong lingering presence. Creamy. TimE (1361), Tokyo, Japan

Port, tobacco, cherries on a thin mouth. Tasted a bit oxidized, so would like to retry when fresher. toukopouko (31), Salo, Finland

Pours with a creamy tan head. A sweet aroma, with notes of coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malt, licorice, caramel, rye bread. A full-bodied, smooth and thick mouthfeel with a long finish, with a taste of coffee, dark chocolate and bittering hops. masto (77), Helsinki, Finland

Flavor is rye bread with cocoa, burned malt and a hint of hops. Dry dark chocolate aftertaste. Medium, extremely dry body. Moderate carbonation. All in all, far too dry for me to really enjoy it.
