The aroma has notes of roasted malt, a light sweetness, dark fruits and a touch of chocolate. The same goes for the flavour, where I also find licorice and a light bitterness in the finish. It’s a quite full bodied and warming Baltic porter! Thank you Tom/After4ever - it seems ridicilus to get a Finnish porter all the way from the US - the things we do to get new ratings - tsk, tsk.... | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Dec 31, 2007 I thought that this was going to be like one of those nitro-burning Imperial stouts that are fine for sipping, but not for the sessions that my stupid brother seems to want to have this Christmas. Instead it pours dark with a very bubbly beige head. Aroma was a bit off, and the first sip gave me the metallic taste of pennies in the mouth, but subsequently is starts out with a good fore-flavor of darkish malts with a light and more refreshing (read not dry) finish. Has some smoke to it. Easy drinking. RCL (1486), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Dec 27, 2007 Pours black and rather thick. Flavor is rather malty, but definitely not bad. Flavors more in line with chocolate and caramel fall in without much of a coffee influence. Excellent beer. ucusty (1908), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA

Picture perfect lacing. chocolate and roasted malts on the nose. thin bodied roasty mouth-feel and chocolatly malty finish. mcox90 (649), Wilton, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 24, 2007 12 oz bottle courtesy of Dragonstout. Pours a dark brown with a brown head. Nose is of dry chocolate, dark fruits and malts. Tastes of light chocolates and dark fruits and roasted malts. Some raters have noted soy sauce. I don’t get that. This brew is a bit on the light side, but pretty good. franksnbeans (265), Columbus, Maryland, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 23, 2007 Pours out black with a big frothy chocolaty head that takes its time before lacing to a thin layer. Looks spectacular. Smells of bakers chocolate, dark fruit, and roasty malt. The taste is crazy, in a very good way. Starts roasty, then transitions into bakers chocolate, then the dark fruit kicks in then washed away by a hop bite that dissapears to a coffee but silky flavor. So smooth in the mouth with a tickle of carbonation. I could drink these all night long.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 22, 2007 Updated: Dec 23, 2007Bottled in 2000! Still some carbonation left over. Pours opaque black with no head. Aromas of soy sauce, cellar must, salty, black currants, and a cigarette butt right after I went out for a smoke! Soy sauce continues in the flavor as well as some sweet smoked malt, and hints of toffee. Flavor is limited but distinct. Mouthfeel starts off nearly watery but becomes full and chewy towards the end. Soy sauce dominates. Fresh is better but this was quite enjoyable with some sharp cheddar. Notes of Bali Shag (blue) show up in the nose towards the end. Interesting brew.
