Much more malt character than many other Porter. This gives the beer a really nice character that holds up very well to the molasses and chocolate flavors. Really weel done. phllybeer29 (20), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 7, 2007 33cl bottle; Nose of chocolate with a molasses note; opaque black with a medium glass-lacing tan head; flavor of a mixture of chocolate, molasses, and some coffee; finish being a very faint hop bitterness. Body is medium; good but not great. A little too molassesy for my taste. mrdasilva (120), Helsinki, Finland
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 7, 2007 Pitch-black color, nice brown head. Chocolaty, sweet, soft aroma has some berries in it too. Long, multi-dimensional flavor. Very dry and bitter. Coal-like ending. Some espersso notes. iowaherkeye (1859), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 6, 2007 11.2oz, no date. Deep brown with a two finger tan head, fades to a 1/4" film after a bit.. Loads of semisweet chocolate and molasses in the aroma, some roast, and soy and nuts in the background. The slightest tinge of spicy alcohol present. The flavor even has a hint of smokiness--dunno where that came from. Lots of chocolate and scorched caramel in the flavor, roasted grain and ashy semidry finish. The alcohol is more apparent than it probably should be (at 7.2%) as it warms. Low carbonation, medium body. Very good beer that I have overlooked a few times before at John’s Grocery. enenalan (21), Linden, New Jersey, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 5, 2007 Poured deep brown to black with a frothy coffee con leche head which quickly dissipated. Aroma was malt, chocolate, and slight alcohol. Flavor is chocolate with a roasted finish. Pretty bitter, but nice. Not that it’s the greatest, but if you needed a beer to represent the porter style, this would be the one. kp (8396), Woodstock, Georgia, USA
