Basically a bit sludgy and unsophisticated, but chock full of something vaguely related to malt and hops. One of the only beers to give me a "never again" following morning. begbie100 (162), Oulu, Finland

Nice sticky light brown head, looks like whipped egg whites. Only aroma that I can catch is metallic. Also flavor is mild and watery with a hint of roasted malt. fonefan (11525), VestJylland, Denmark
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 28, 2007 Bottle. Clear dark red / brown color with a average good lacing light brown head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, chocolate, coffe. Flavor moderate sweet and light bitter with a short duration. Body is light to medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is moderate to heavy metalic. No my kind of schwartzbier !! raymondwave (871), Finland
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Nov 22, 2006 After tasting quite a few german scharzbier’s, I don’t really hold Velvet too high. It tastes quite metallic and watery. Not a bad one, but to speak the truth, I rarely buy this. larsga (2969), Oslo, Norway
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 27, 2006 Medium dark beige coarse head; seemingly black body goes dark red at edges. Sweet, milky, toffeeish aroma with caramel and chocolate notes. Harmonic. Roasty, acidic taste with notes of chalk and smoke. Very thin-bodied. Dry, metallic-smoky aftertaste. Disappointing. The aroma is good, but the beer is just too thin. (0.5l bottle.) Tranquillity (1167), Espoo, Finland

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 27, 2006 Updated: Aug 3, 2007(Can BB 19/03/08) “Sinebrychoff Velvet” has a roasted malty, coffee and hoppy aroma with a hint of metalness. Black (reddish) colour, large, thick, brownish head with good lacing. Roasted (even burned) malty, coffee and slightly bitter flavour. Smooth, slightly dry, medium-bodied and softly carbonated palate with a hint of metalness. Kind of kid brother of Sinebrychoff Porter. A good brew from Sinebrychoff! 27/07/07 (original ratings 6/4/6/3/13 (bottle), 6/4/6/3/14) mabjork (580), Vasa, Finland
