Commercial Description:

Draught. Medium high creamy off-white head. Pitcy black body. Whisky coffee alcohol caramel aroma with a hint of wood. Powerful coffee whisy flavor, subdued alcohol , and liquorice. High carbonation. Long aftertaste.

Draught at EsBF09. Good vinous aroma, some vanilla. Black colour. Small stable brown head. The flavour is nicely vinous with a distinct vanilla note. The bitterness is a bit rough, like very hard roasted malts. I would have preferred some more sweetness. Much too hard roasted, and too dry.

Handbottled. A pitch black beer with a brown head. The aroma is quite powerful with notes of vanilla, wood, soy sauce, roasted malt, oatmeal, and a bit of whiskey. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of whiskey and roasted malt as well as medium notes of alcohol, soy sauce, roasted malt, wood, and oatmeal, as well as light notes of vanilla, leading to a dry finish, where the alcohol makes it presence known on the palate, but at the same time the mouthfeel is a bit weak - maybe due to a low level of residual sugar. Huge thanks to yespr for this.

It’s pitch black with a small, creamy head. The aroma has notes of oak barrel, roasted malt, coffee, vanilla and whisky. The flavor has notes of whisky, roasted malt, a light sourness, oak, tannic acid, oats, bitter coffee, licorice and the finish is bitter and dry. Quite interesting.

From tap at YNWA. Pours dark brown to black with a tan head. Aroma is roasted malty, hoppy liqourice and chocolate. Bitter, dry roasted and nice bitter flavoured. Subdued sweetness and chocolate roasted malt notes. Light yeasty fruity notes showing through. Ends dry and mild acidic from the hardroasted malt. Lingering chocolate and hoppy bitter finish. Nice one.

Bottle shared by The Wolf at Borefts BF 09. Black, thin beige head. It’s a decent stout. It’s got some fruit and some malt. Maybe could do with a bit more oomph from the malts.

Bottled. Tnx thewolf. Aroma has coffee, whisky, some chocolate. Black coloured beer with a beige head. The taste has lots of whisky, some coffee, some chocolate. Perhaps a bit too much whisky. Nevertheless, keep on brewing René!
