Commercial Description:
Big Wave is a light golden ale with a subtle fruitiness and delicate hop aroma. A smooth, easy drinking refreshing ale. The lightly roasted honey malt contributes to the golden hue of this beer and also gives a slight sweetness that is balanced out by our special blend of hops.

Had this at the Kona brewpub following a tour of the place while vacationing in Hawaii. This wasn’t one of their better beers, but it was just fine.

From the tap poured golden with a fair amount of head. Malty flavor with a lingering aftertaste.

On tap at the Yard House, Waikiki. Lightly hazed gold with a ringed white head. Meh. Bland, tasteless and watery. Clearly brewed for the BMC crowd.

"Hazy golden yellow zero crown on top not even bubble island was produced during the pour this blatacular looking. Aroma is mild and reminds me of ginger ale and maybe even a hint of chocolate, not offensive but not great it’s just there. Very weak flavoured but yummy, I swear I’m tasting chocolate but that seems wrong. Very malty and hint of hops with perfume in the finish, mouth full is smooth and heavily carbonated. This is just beer to drink it doesn’t taste bad but its nothing to get excited over it just a beer. Thank Timmer for bringing this back for me. "

On draft and in bottle while in Maui. Pours a clear medium yellow color with a fluffy white head. Light floral citrus notes with some grain and corn on the nose. Lightly sweet on the finish with some corn and faint hop bitterness.

Average all around? That’s pretty lame, but totally accurate. Light bodied and golden in colour and totally drinkable. A tad bit of bitterness but quite sweet and goes down really easy. But it is what it is - a small brewery beer - don’t expect anything more than that. Wish I was at the beach instead of my crummy basement.

Major disappointment from Kona here. Dull in every way. Bland and dull cereals are all that makes an appearance. Dull from first appearances with it’s stale look and moth eaten head. Dull all the way to the useless finish.
