Commercial Description:
Big Wave is a light golden ale with a subtle fruitiness and delicate hop aroma. A smooth, easy drinking refreshing ale. The lightly roasted honey malt contributes to the golden hue of this beer and also gives a slight sweetness that is balanced out by our special blend of hops.

Pours a hazy golden color with orange hues. Head is cotton-ball white and very short lived. Aroma is lager hops, corn and barley. Very carbonated taste, sweet with white grapes, orange peel, drying hydrogen peroxide. Despite drying aftertaste, it has a very wet mouth feel overall. Greater hop complexity and presence would be appreciated. As it is, this is just a big sweet, wet beer with misplaced flavors. 12 oz bottle purchased at ABC in Waikiki, Oahu.

No real aroma to speak of...Deep yellow gold. Not much on the attack, but finish is nice and smooth. Could be a little sweeter. Decent palate, maybe could use a little more carbonation. Pretty easy drinker...

Very average golden ale. I had this on vacation while I was in Hawaii. Pours a clear gold with a medium white head. It has a little hit of hops to it but nothing really stands out. It isn’t a bad beer, but not a great one. Not bad for a refresher if you are laying out by the pool though.

Had this on draft in Hawaii at our hotel and at the Kona Brewery(which is a fantastic place by the way with terrific food). I was hoping I’d be able to find it in Colorado, but no luck. I’m surprised by how low everybody is reviewing this beer.

Taster - Kona Brewing Co. - Koko Marina Pub - Honolulu, Hawaii
2008 – Great Hawaiian Beer Run
Aroma – Light ale aroma. Very light hops.
Appearance – Light yellow in color, nice head and clear.
Flavor – Very light lawnmower pale ale flavor. This was a light malt and very light on the hops.
Palate – Nice Mouthfeel, good texture with a dry finish.
Overall – A easy to drink Golden ale. Nothing to impressive this was a basically good beer.

Quenches your thirst but doesn’t do much else for me. Nice golden color and simple on palate - too simple? - but not much on the nose or with the flavor. Good beer for sitting by the pool.

Pleasant graininess but couldve used a more interesting yeast. Perfectly quaffable though.

On tap. Nice aroma golden color ... White creamy head with great lacing. Aroma is nice and flavor is refreshing but watery.
