On tap at the Kona Brew Pub on Oahu. Poured a dark brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of chocolate, roast, vey light coffee and light vanilla cream. Tastes of roasted coffee, and chocolate. Lacing left on the glass. Very enjoyable.

Had on tap at the Kona brewpub after a tour of the place while vacationing in Hawaii. Not bad at all, and if I remember right, the waiter had a cool story to tell us about black sand.

I liked this Porter, and hey at happy hour only $3.00 a pint...went down with a nice pork sandwich with a light BBQ sauce made with the porter...

On tap at Kona Koko Marina. Pours almost black with a decent tan head. Mostly roasted malt in the nose, with hints of chocolate and coffee coming through a little more in the taste. Mouthfeel is not bad. Nice bitter coffee finish.

On tap at Koko Marina. Poured a dark brown with a one finger brown head. Aroma was of roasted malt with chocolate and coffee notes. Flavor was burned malt with chocolate and coffee, and a bitter finish. The mouthfeel wasn’t very creamy, which would have added a lot to the beer.

Tap. Dark chocolate malt and ash aroma. Dark brown color with thin, long lasting tan head. Strong mocha malt and ash flavor with moderate hops finish.

On tap, Koko Marina Brewpub. Pours a charcoal-brown with a tan head. Smells of ash, coffee, and dark chocolate. Flavor is ashy, dry, baker’s chocolate, and some coffee. Pretty nice blend. Not as creamy or complex as I would like, but certainly a nice brew. Finishes dry and slightly bitter. Surprisingly easy to drink given the darkness of this porter. Maybe its is flavorful hops?
