Commercial Description:
Black Sand Porter is a robust, full bodied porter with pronounced bittersweet chocolate flavor and aroma from the diverse variety of malt used to brew this beer. The hops balance the the maltiness of this robust and roasty ale.

Pours nearly black with a medium sized brown head. Aroma is primarily roasted malt and chocolate. Moutfeel is full with some good carbonation. Flavor has more of a hop presence than the aroma, but otherwise is pretty similar. A good porter, but I perfer the Pipelline.

Decent porter here. Aroma is mostly roasted with some dark chocolate. Flavor had some acidity to it but not too harsh. Body was smooth and round.

Near black colour. Fresh black malt nose is decadent, with rich fruits. The palate is again rich in black malts with some fruitiness. Quality brew.

Draft at the brewpub in Honolulu. Dark brown in color with a thin head that faded quickly. This was a very balanced porter with some chcolate, coffee, nuts and malt. This continued into a balanced midpalate that was creamy and finished smooth. I preferred this to the Pipeline Porter due to the balance.

Draft at the brewpub. Dark brown/black body, modest aroma, but roasty, small head. Roasty flavors, typical, moderate hop bitterness, not astringent like the Pipeline Porter.

Draft from brew pub in kona. Pours almost black with an offwhite head, you could really smell and taste roasted malts in this one. Had a nice chocolate and coffe flavor. My favorite of the brews I had of theres

I had this beer on tap at the brewery while I was on vacation there. This beer has a dark ruby color through which very little sunlight is able to penetrate. There are very strong roasted and chocolate aromas. This is a beer that draws you in once you smell it. The flavor is heavily roasted but with good hop balance for the style. It has a medium body. Overall, this is one of my favorite Kona brews. Excellent drinkability.
