Dark pour thick tan well alced head. Very weak aroma some roasted malt hint of chocolate. Flavor is bitter sweet chocolate roasted malts and a dry finish. Pretty good but I expected better from the GABF gold medal winner. Sampled at GABF.

GABF 2005: Very black beer with good head and lacing. Aroma was mostly roasted with some coffee hints. Taste was a combination of roasted with a little malt but, the after-taste was stale coffee.

[At GABF 2004] A pitch black beer with a lasting beutiful brown head. The aroma is very lighlty roasted - I’m a bit disappointed in the lightness of the aroma. The flavor is sweet with hints of coffee, and a nice roasted end. The mouthfeel is very smooth.

Roasted malt aroma. Very familiar as in many porters have a very similar aroma. Nice. Opaque body. Light tan head that is diminishing. Nice lace. Good flavor has 40 IBUs but tastes like more. I was eating a caesar salad with pepperoncinis, (yes I added them myself), and tangy-pepper flavor was strengthened by the brew.

GABF '03. Black pour with thin tan head. Chocolate and coffee is all over this thin light beer. Totally average at best.

Black as night with a sticky consistency. Coffee, toffee, smoky and slightly bittered. A weird fit in Hawaii, but a decent smoky porter for those who like them.

On tap GABF 02: Creamy texture, roasted notes. Almost a smokey ending.
