Commercial Description:
Black Sand Porter is a robust, full bodied porter with pronounced bittersweet chocolate flavor and aroma from the diverse variety of malt used to brew this beer. The hops balance the the maltiness of this robust and roasty ale.

I had this beer on tap at the brewery while I was on vacation there. This beer has a dark ruby color through which very little sunlight is able to penetrate. There are very strong roasted and chocolate aromas. This is a beer that draws you in once you smell it. The flavor is heavily roasted but with good hop balance for the style. It has a medium body. Overall, this is one of my favorite Kona brews. Excellent drinkability.

I liked this Porter, and hey at happy hour only $3.00 a pint...went down with a nice pork sandwich with a light BBQ sauce made with the porter...

Black as night with a sticky consistency. Coffee, toffee, smoky and slightly bittered. A weird fit in Hawaii, but a decent smoky porter for those who like them.

My favorite of all the Kona Brews. Deep, dark brown color, rich flavor and smooth finish.

Draft from brew pub in kona. Pours almost black with an offwhite head, you could really smell and taste roasted malts in this one. Had a nice chocolate and coffe flavor. My favorite of the brews I had of theres

Draft at brewery: Deep brown. Smooth and weighty (but not too heavy) with a nice carbonation level. Huge roast, with wafting notes of chocoloate and coffee and toasted bread. Some sweet toffee and a pinch of smoke followed through toward the finish. Healthy amount of bitterness rounded things out, along with a little burnt and some grassy hops. Rather tasty porter. Thankfully, not too sweet and fairly easy to drink.

On tap at the Kona Brew Pub on Oahu. Poured a dark brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of chocolate, roast, vey light coffee and light vanilla cream. Tastes of roasted coffee, and chocolate. Lacing left on the glass. Very enjoyable.

Roasted malt aroma. Very familiar as in many porters have a very similar aroma. Nice. Opaque body. Light tan head that is diminishing. Nice lace. Good flavor has 40 IBUs but tastes like more. I was eating a caesar salad with pepperoncinis, (yes I added them myself), and tangy-pepper flavor was strengthened by the brew.
