Commercial Description:
A full-bodied, traditional I.P.A. that is bronze in color, Castaway IPA is "dry hopped" (aged with whole hop flowers after fermentation) for assertive hop flavor and aroma. The bitterness is balanced by the malty body of the beer.

On tap at the Kona Brew Pub on Oahu. Poured a medium amber color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of floral hops and some citrus. Tastes of floral hops, citrus, and light caramel. Lacing left on the glass.

Sampled on tap at the Kona brewery in Kona, HI. Clear amber color with a white-ish head, this is a nicely balanced IPA, good bitterness up front w/ a hoppy backbone

We drove up the west coase of the Big Island looking for a place to eat and came across the Kona Pub and Brewery. The food was good, and the beer.... This one proves that Hawaiians can brew good beer.

Sampled on tap at the brewery in Kona, Hawaii. The beer had a rich, amber color with a small white, foamy head without much retention. It was mostly clear with big grainy hop and floral aromas, with some wheat scents too. The taste was bitter and sour; not sweet at all. The beer had a dry body and finish, but it was a bit oily with average carbonation and a good body.

A good solid India Pale Ale. Rich and creamy. Good tasty bitterness. Fruity citrus hoppiness. Well balanced and very drinkable. On tap at the brewery in Kona.

Draft at Oahu brewpub. Lots of citrusy aromas. Nice floral and fruity hop flavor. Better than average.

thanks to beer reps for allowing me to try this for free...don’t know if i’d ever pay for it. out of balance, way to hoppy. no other flavor profiles, just hops. guess i won’t be sellin’ it.

On tap at the brewpub 11/03/2006. This brew was served up with a thin off-white head resting on a brilliantly clear copper body. Sweet hops aroma quite evident, and the flavor was classic IPA assertive Hops with just enough malty body to keep it reasonable. Bitterness lingered pleasantly after this smooth crisp brew. When it warmed up a lot the alcohol seemed to be faintly evident but it did not detract.
