Commercial Description:
Fire Rock Pale Ale is a crisp, refreshing “Hawaiian-style” pale ale. Its signature copper color results from the unique blend of specialty roasted malts. The pronounced citrus-floral hop aroma comes from the liberal amounts of Galena, Cascade & Mt. Hood hops added to each brew.

12oz bottle. Spicy, sprucy, and fruity-jammy-orange-citrus sweet nose. An orange with cloves? The flavor has some sweet orange marmalade and spice. Some light citric hops leave a slight bitterness in the finish. The toasty, fruity malts leave a sweet body that the hops just cut through. If you are going for balance, this is close, but could be slightly dryer. Medium bodied with smooth bubbles and a slight stickiness. Pretty well done and balanced.

Bottle from Sam’s. The best kona beer I have had to date. Nice nose of citrus hops and caramel malt. Flavor follows suit. Better than your average APA, but still not too exciting.

12 oz bottle. Well, I needed a beer to replace the Barrel House Red Legg that I ended up dumping down the sink, so I reached into the fridge and grabbed this one. Pours a hazy amber with a moderate linen white head that lasted through a few sips and left some light spotty lace. Pleasant aroma of malt and some bitter citrus. The flavor is very similar with some sweet malt up front and finishes with some bitter citrus. Very easy to drink. A nice solid APA.

Draught at Woody’s in Downtown Raleigh during a promotional event--I now own a grass skirt!!! Pours copper colored with a small white head. Aroma is mildly hoppy, with a faint caramel smell. Flavor is hoppy, citrus and grass, with a decent malt backbone. Pretty good beer.

Mild citrus hop aroma with a little malt presence. Flavor is lots of citrus hops with a clean bitter finish. A nice APA, espcially if you like hops. Nicely refreshing on a warm Kona night.

A very mild version of a pale ale. Goldish amber with a lightly hoppy nose. Flavor is soft hops over malt, mildly soapy. An okay version of the style.

draft at bahama breeze, florida. Enjoyed many of these in Hawaii as well. Nicely bittered, nice zesty pnw hops. Nothing overly special, but one to try and enjoy for sure.
