Aromas are of caramel malt, pineapple and some citrus hops. Flavor tends to the malty/caramel side of the specturm that is present in the nose... and while the hops are there, they don’t come through crisply. Very nicely balanced, especially given the malt heavy body. The food was good, and the beer.... This was good on tap. I also tried a bottle at a Side Street Inn in Honolulu. Not bad. murawski (158), USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 13, 2007 Bottle, straight from Hawaii. Very minimal aroma; standard amber/copper appearance. Flavor starts with some spicy/piney hops, but the finish is flat. Palate was a bit rough for my liking (maybe a character of the dry hops).
Overall, about average for a pale ale (although I’m picky when it comes to this variety). cbkschubert (2004), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA

Nice lacing. Soft, tiny bubble carbonation. Aroma is caramel malt and light floral hops. Flavor is sweet malt and light hops. Medium body. A little more malt than I expected. I nice, easy drinking PA. SpudClampDawg (1027), Jasper, Indiana, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 27, 2007 Hazy copper pour with a creamy head. The nose is dominated by caramel malt notes, supplemented by a soft punch of hoppy citrus and earthy yeast, Nice creamy mouthfeel. The hop characted is a bit more defined in the body, noting sweet grapefruit, orange zest and flowery rose. Plenty of creamy toffee to back things up. The finish is mildly bitter, playing up to the sessionability of the beer. Another great APA. Dansting (222), Overland Park, Kansas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 27, 2007 Bottle. Pours a clear, copper color with a medium, white head. Decent lacing. Sweet, light hoppy aroma. Good mouthfeel. Flavor is similar to a good American Pale Ale with a nice hoppiness along with a citrusy finish. Decent in a bottle, but much better at the brewpub in Kona. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 17, 2007 Pours a clear light copper color with very little head. Once the little bit of head goes away, the beer looks quite dead. Very mild aromas of hops and biscuity malt. The hop aroma was weak and reminded me of cellophane. The hop character is a bit more abiding in the taste, but still nothing great. A decent brew; sessionable but nothing exciting.
