Kona Fire Rock Pale Ale

Was not a fan of the fire rock. The hops were just too overwhelming and seemed to dominate the beer. Not much taste outside of that.

Bottle thanks to the ever growing selection at Monster Beverage in Glassboro, NJ. ours a clear amber with a small off white head and very little lacing. Faint aroma of citrus but not a whole lot beyond that. Standard APA flavor profile but tilted slightly toward the malty side with notes of toffee and toasted biscuits. Hop presence restrained but noticible in the moderately dry finish. I’m a huge fan of all things Hawaii but this beer struggles to hit mediocre.

On tap. Poured a clear, pale copper color with a one-finger tall white head. Minimal lacing. Was surprised at how nice the aroma was on this one. Smelled like a snickerdoodle cookie. Sugary sweet with a hint of cinnamon. Pine hops are slightly evident as well. The flavor wasn’t as good as the aroma, but it was decent. Malt, sugar and some pine hops. Not a bad finish. Borderline watery mouthfeel.

Widely available in Hawaii. Malty and citrus aroma with an amber brown color and off white head. Flavor is creamy malt. Some cheese notes. Light bitterness with a mellow finish. Creamy mouthfeel with good carbonation. Good with dinner. My favorite all purpose beer to drink in Hawaii.

Poured a reddish copper color with medium sized off-white head that quickly dissipated. Non-descript small malty nose. Sweet sucrose flavor. Not very exciting, but quite palpable. FInished with a little bite, but not too exciting.

Bottle from Immy, thanks Tim! My first beer from this state, yay! Pours deep copper liquid, topped with a generous neoge froth. The head lives and laces well. AMerican hoppy aroma, lemon, good pine presence, biscuit, spicy malts, cookie. Very crisp and hoppy, pine needles, spicy malts, some rye bread, bubblegum, a touch of pepper. FInishes bitter, slightly astringent, hoppy aftertaste. Good one. Thanks a lot Tim!

A decent flavored Pale Ale but not much body to it. Some astringency with the lemon, orange, honey and soap. It’s got that pennies taste to it. Very thin and metallic mouthfeel.

Very robust flavor in this fine hawaiin beer. Large malty aroma of caramel and solid hops. The body is thick caramel malts as well. Very good session beer, very good.
