Commercial Description:
Fire Rock Pale Ale is a crisp, refreshing “Hawaiian-style” pale ale. Its signature copper color results from the unique blend of specialty roasted malts. The pronounced citrus-floral hop aroma comes from the liberal amounts of Galena, Cascade & Mt. Hood hops added to each brew.

Nice light copper color with a foamy head. Strong citrus taste with a floral aftertaste. This one is very different. I enjoyed it very much but I think would go better on a warm summer day.

Big carbonation was a bit much, but still getting the hops, they did not skimp, and a tad of fruitiness. This would be interesting on cask. Fruity colour with moderate off-white head. Drinkable stuff.

Bottle. Pours amber with an off white head. The aroma is floral hoppy with some sweet malt. The flavor has citrus hops as well as floral notes, with some lightly sweet malt. Not bad.

This is ok, I was a little let down as the Kona brewing company has some fine beers.

Draft at the local for lunch yesterday. having never visited Hawaii, I’m not sure what "Hawaiian-style" infers. I once saw a bumper sticker that read..."I’m not late...I’m on Hawaiian time" So with this casualness in mind I start off on this brew. Nose is lightly nutty as is first touch to tounge. A crisp and clear medium amber in the glass. Then I remember that I am a member of the mug club....D’oh! Some moderate hop esters in the nose, like sugared grapefruit with some pear juice. Hops are certainly present in this critter but not in your face, and are well balanced with the smooth, slightly toffee/buttery body. Finish is on the sweet side. some nice building quaff rings and cruncy lacing.

Pours golden to amber color with bright white head that retains well. Nose is on the light side, with lager-like breadiness, and faint fruitiness - peaches perhaps. Palate is a mixture of bland maltiness and hops with sharpness but not much in the way of positively contributing to flavor. Slight fruit. Mineral taste too. Easy drinking.
