Commercial Description:
Hula Hefeweizen is a traditional Bavarian-style weissbier that is medium to full bodied with a pronounced banana / herbal flavor and aroma. This unique flavor profile is a result of the special type of yeast strain used to brew this beer.

Draft at the brewpub in Honolulu. Cloudy deep yellow in color with a nice thick white head. The aromas were of yeast, citrus and banana with a touch of 5-spice. The palate had nice concentration and depth without coming off heavy. Overall, this was a nice surprise and one that I would definitely order again.

Draft at the brewpub. Slightly hazy golden body, white head with good lacing, banana/clove nose. Finally, a US hefe that actually tastes the way a hefe should taste. Good banana/clove/citrus balance with finishing wheatiness.

Nice little pub Heffe. Had it at the brewery on Kona. Went great with their fabulous pizza. Pretty typical banana flavors and hazy color. Very smooth and easy drinking. Nice beer.

Just had a sampler at the Kona Brewery, but enjoyed it very much. It’s your traditional German Hefeweizen with the banana taste. It’s remarkably similar to Flying Dog In Heat Wheat, and Ram/Big Horn Brewing’s Hefeweizen. You might not be blown away, but if you like a nice hef, you can’t go wrong.

Sampled on draft at the Kona Brewery on the Big Island. Not as impressed with this one as I was with the Pipeline Porter or even the Castaway IPA. Poured a murky yellow (almost like a Belgian Wit). Overall, this wheat was just too over the top bubble-gum and banana flavors for me- there was nothing subtle about the flavors here. Not a favorite....

On tap at the Kona Brew Pub on Oahu. Poured a deeper and cloudy golden yellow color with a smaller sized head. Aromas of bananas, cloves, and pepper. Tastes of the same but on the weaker and somewhat watery side. Light citrus in there as well.

I sampled this beer at Kona Brewing in Kona, HI. This is a solid hefe: banana & clove on the nose, tangy flavor. very good
