This was my favorite beer at the brewpub, and the best hefeweizen I think I’ve ever tried. Poured a hazy yellow with a one finger white head. Aroma of citrus and wheat. Flavor had the characteristic banana/clove flavor, balanced with a lot of citrus fruit flavors. Great beer. CubsClapp (13), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 31, 2008 Just had a sampler at the Kona Brewery, but enjoyed it very much. It’s your traditional German Hefeweizen with the banana taste. It’s remarkably similar to Flying Dog In Heat Wheat, and Ram/Big Horn Brewing’s Hefeweizen. You might not be blown away, but if you like a nice hef, you can’t go wrong. luckygirl (1221), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jan 1, 2006 Had this on-tap at the brewery. The beer poured a murky, light orange-yellow color with a small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing head. The aroma was bright with light hoppy notes of lemon/citrus, grass and apricot and a moderate yeasty note of basement in the background. There was also a very strong and neat banana overtone. The flavor started moderatley sweet and ended in an average-length, moerately sweet, lightly bitter finish. The body was light-to-medium and the texture was watery with lively carbonation. Very refreshing and interesting! Ron (1017), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 29, 2009 When I finally found the brewery(I forgot my my map and the address back at the room) I had a nice glass of Hefe. Slightly hazy golden body, white head with good lacing, banana/clove nose. Flavor of spices, banana, and wheat. Very Enjoyable. BeerLimey (1873), California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 22, 2002 Updated: Mar 20, 2003This seems to be the latest of the Kona's to have made it to SoCal and must be new asit's not listed on their website. Many people at my work order it for the name but I think that Kona makes some really good beers. The hefe is no exception amd may be one of the closest examples I've found to a German wheat, with cloves both in the aroma and on the palate, while there's some backbone with apricot and banana fruitiness. No lemon needed. estoppel (1028), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 24, 2008 Draft at the brewpub. Slightly hazy golden body, white head with good lacing, banana/clove nose. Finally, a US hefe that actually tastes the way a hefe should taste. Good banana/clove/citrus balance with finishing wheatiness. ElGaucho (1730), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Feb 21, 2005 Strong banana aroma. Murky, dark orange body with no head. Nice flavor. Fruity. Good complexity of flavors. I would put this up against most American Hefe’s and it would do quite well. A good effort. bobaidan (362), Farmington, Connecticut, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 9, 2008 On tap at the brewery. Pours murky yellow with a big head. Aroma is wheat, banana and a hint of spice. Mouthfeel is lively with lots of carbonation. Flavor is much like the aroma. This is a very good traditional German Hefe.
