Commercial Description:
Lavaman Red Ale is a malty, red ale with strong caramel notes and a subtle chocolate malt flavor. The pronounced maltiness is balanced by the delicate blend of Pacific Northwest hops resulting in a smooth, full-bodied beer.

Solid red ale here. Big malty nose and flavor catch my attention. Probably my favorite out of the 12 beer sampler I got at the brewery. Lots of caramel and lightly roasted malts, LOTS! Good stuff.

on tap, Yardhouse. Pours a dark ruby color, quite attractive. Smell is of malt and fruits. Flavor is quite interesting: classic red ale sweeter malt + hop balance with fruit, but also features a subtle smokiness that adds character to this brew. Palate is light-medium. Finishes smooth and flavors linger on tongue. Flavors could have been bolder, but nice overall.

On tap at the brewpub in Honolulu: Solid amber in color with some rich red tones running through. There were aromas of malt, caramel and a touch of citric hops. This continued into a medium-bodied beer with nice carbonation.

Draft. Reddish body, small head, malty nose with fruity hop notes. Moderately hopped, with a pleasant fruity flavor.
