The atmosphere of this Maui-pad contributed greatly toward my love for this beer. The waitress placed it on the table and the color was radiant. Bright red, slight maltiness, nice full flavor. A great local beer.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 24, 2007 I had this beer on tap at the brewery while I was on vacation there. Lavaman Red pours a predictable copper color that shines very nicely in the sun. The aroma is light and is primarily malty. The taste is heavily malty with a hint of chocolate in the background. There is a slight hop bitterness that helps to balance the malt. The beer is surprisingly light bodied for the maltiness but works well. Overall, I would say this is a great session beer. carruthm (1171), Seattle, Washington, USA

Probably my favorite out of the 12 beer sampler I got at the brewery. Lots of caramel and lightly roasted malts, LOTS! Good stuff. mpbro (132), Stanford, California, USA

5.7% ABV, 26 IBU.
As close to perfection in a red ale as I've seen recently.
Not outside the box, but executed perfectly.
Pours dark copper, with a complex aroma profile of specialty malts
and a light aromatic hop presence.
Crystal and caramel malts dominate the flavor, but an odd (not unpleasant)
"sweet potato" presence keeps things interesting: sweet with a full mouthfeel.
Low bitterness. JohnC (2286), Mission Viejo, California, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Feb 22, 2007 Draught at Vino Italian Tapas & Wine Bar located at Kapalua Village Golf Course. Relatively faint aroma with a hint of hops and a hint of malt. Dark copper with steady carbonation and a small, off-white head. Tastes a lot like Keoki Sunset. Relatively dry with solid hop profile. Not so dry as to be unbalanced, however. Also reminds me a bit of Summit EPA. Enjoyable though not spectacular.
