Commercial Description:
Longboard Lager is a smooth refreshing lager fermented and aged for five weeks at cold temperatures to yield its exceptionally smooth flavor. A delicate, slightly spicy hop aroma complements the malty body of this beer.

It’s a decent lager, nothing great. On the sweet side with some grassy hops to it. Very pale, thin white head. Fairly dry finish.

Bottle. Average taste, just an average beer. Nothing great, not bad though. Good for a hot summer day.

12 oz. bottle, trade with Daknole, Contract-brewed for the Mainland at Redhook’s Portsmouth, NH brewery. Bottled 7/7/09. Straight-up pale gold lager pour with a thin, fizzy head. A bit of haze in the thicker part of the glass. Some oxidation in the headspace that’s still in the glass, gives way to a bit of a stale beer smell. Taste is nice, though; a fizzy body that carries in some bitter hoppiness. Note of lemongrass. At least the malts give it a nice full mouthfeel. Hops become a bit more peppery toward the end. Decent.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a nice crisp pale yellow, no cloudiness, with a thin white head. Grains, hops in the nose. Taste is the same, but more subdued. Crisp, clean tasting beer with a light body, but nothing very distinctive about it.

Bottle. Pours yellow with a white head. Aroma was grainy and malty with some light hops. Flavor was clean & crisp with light malts, grains, and had a hint of orange.

I recently tried this beer on a trip to the APS/JPS conference on Kona. This is a decent lager. Not much head of course, but offering a little bit of hops and bitterness in the flavor. I find it interesting to try a Hawaiian beer, but it’s not quite enough to win me over coming from California...
