2005 vintage on tap at the 2007 GABF: Transparent mahogany with a wispy-lacing tan head. Aroma of nice fresh, grapefruity hops and sweet caramel malt. Full, sweet body has some light fruity esters and complexity and bittering hops toward a drier bittersweet finish. A pretty nice barleywine.

GABF 2007: Poured a hazy copper color with an off-white head. Dark fruit aroma that was semi-sweet. The flavor was of browned apples and dark fruits. Some figs. Medium to full body and semi-dry.

On tap @ GABF 2007 (2005 vintage) poured a clear dark amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of dark fruit, carmel, toffee, light mollases and a hint of spice. Palate was full bodied smooth and slightly dry. Flavors of dark bread, carmel, light notes of dark fruit and a hint of spice with a smooth dry lingering malty finish.

Tap. Apricot/raisin malt aroma with a hint of alcohol. Brown amber color with a moderate head. Dried apricot/prune flavor with a moderate astringent alcohol finish. Very nice barleywine - a little hard to fully appreciate though when its 80 degrees outside though.

Kona Brewing on Oahu: Creamy and full textured. Awesome caramel and toffee flavors. Sweetened nuts and fresh bread, too. Nice level of hops. Kona Brewing on the Big Island: 2007 vintage on draft - super nice and tasty. Very rich malts, with only a mild bitterness, yet surprisingly decent aromas. Complex with high alcohol that was hidden well. Tasty stuff.

2003 GABF: Sweet malts, dark fruit and brown sugar in the nose, full smooth texture, starts sweet and then gets more sweet. Long aftertaste that is more than welcome to stay around.
