Commercial Description:
Pipeline Porter is smooth and dark with a distinctive roasty aroma and earthy complexity from its diverse blends of premium malted barley. This celebration of malt unites with freshly roasted 100% Kona coffee grown at Cornwell Estate on Hawaii’s Big Island, lending a unique roasted aroma and flavor. A delicate blend of hops rounds out this palate-pleasing brew.

May 8, 2009; 12 oz. bottle. Sampled out of the bottle in San Clemente, CA. A surprisingly-good brew . . . this East Coaster was unaware that a decent porter was being made in Hawaii! (Rated, unfortunately, from memory -- looking forward to having a proper go at this.)

(12oz bottle, bottled 2/4/09) Medium tan head atop brown-black body. Aroma is moderately sweet, coffee, some milk chocolate, light caramel, fig. Taste is medium sweet, coffee, some roast, light burnt, light sourness that suggests infection, milk chocolate. Light-medium body.

Amazing woody roasted coffee aroma. The coffee flavor almost dominates too much especially on the palate. Overall excellent.

Deep brown, almost black, appearance with a small beige head and modest lacing. Who’da thought there would be all that coffee in the aroma? There is a lttle woodiness as well. Earthy, roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate (and coffee) flavors along with some smokiness. Medium bodied, well carbonated mouthfeel with a long lasting finish.

12oz bottle poured into a nonic. The color is solid black with a short, off-white head. The smell is definitely coffee but subtle and not overdone. The flavor is a sweet, coffee porter that again is done very subtly. This is a solid beer and I don’t usually like coffee-infused beers. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 03-18-2008 00:18:47

The first sip was a delicious blend of hops, nut, coffee, and cola. After that, however, there seemed to be excess carbonation that got into the way. By the end, it almost felt like I was drinking a cola.
