Bold coffee flavor right off the bat, but very little follow through and no finish. Also, a bit too fizzy. Interesting, might have it again but not regularly. v8powered (66), , Nevada, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 24, 2009 This is really just a cup of coffee with carbonation and alcohol. The hops are well balanced and blend perfectly with the bitterness and flavor of the coffee. Good flavor overall. I feel bad looking at it in the morning and considering a glass. If not for work, I would think about it. I certainly enjoyed it more than a cup of coffee. soyorganic (217), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 23, 2009 Ok so if a porter has coffee in it I will like it. Aroma of full flavored coffee. Taste is the same. Moderate carbonation but I got a slight watery feel. Maybe needs to be a little thicker. illidurit (896), Santa Cruz, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 23, 2009 On tap at The Red in Santa Cruz. Poured into a pint glass. Dark brown body with a nice dense cap of cocoa colored foam. Nice lacing and retention. Aroma is cocoa powder with a big dose of somewhat tart coffee. Flavor is caramelized sugar, roasted grains, solid roasty bitterness, mildly tart coffee, and a touch of dark chocolate. Pretty typical. Mouthfeel is a little thin. More body and a deeper malt profile would make this a great beer, but as it is, it remains just ’good.’ ryanknock (150), San Francisco, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 19, 2009 A really creamy and smooth porter with an almost lactic quality to it. The primary flavor is coffee, with slight chocolate and roast. The finish is neither sweet nor bitter, almost like an iced coffee. Incredibly drinkable and unique ale. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 16, 2009 Bottle. A dry porter with flabby, tart coffee added. Has some redeeming sweetness in the finish but otherwise this one is unpleasantly sour-tasting. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA

Pours smooth and dark, low tan head that is easily regenerated with only a little stickyness on the glass. Mild coffee and chocolate notes. Light on the tongue. Not as assertive coffee as I expected. A bit dry - but I like that. Good - but not great.
