I drank it out of the bottle so not sure of the apperance, but the smell was of roasted coffee. Medium bodied beer where the coffee hits toward the end of the sip. Very drinkable brew!! noncaloric (620), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 21, 2008 Thanks daknole. Black pour with a thin beige head. Aroma is bright, oily, aromatic coffee, with some grass and dark chocolate. On the front of each sip, the aromatic coffee elements harmonize well with the porter malts. This fades, and smoke and earthy chocolate come through on the finish. Nice buzz on the front of the palate, smooth on the swallow. Very drinkable, yet I lack another. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 15, 2008 Thanks Daknole. Pour is almost black with more red than most porters. Minimal tan head soon becomes a ring. Nose is cocoa chocolate and cappuccino. Along with what is noted in the aroma, flavor offers lima beans, grass, earthiness. Coffee flavor is far too weak and the feel is a bit thin. A nice porter that is perhaps in the upper 3rd of the category. spikester (602), Salem, Oregon, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 13, 2008 Pours opaque dark brown with a one finger tan head. Some lacings. Aroma is coffee.
Taste is sweet rich coffee with a medium bitter finish. If you are a coffee lover I recommend this beer. Palate was lighter than expected but not too thin. Drinkability was excellent provided you love coffee. A very smooth porter. willblake (2179), Belcamp, Maryland, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 12, 2008 20081212 12oz bottle. Darkest of browns with creamy, small, lasting tan head. Aroma is mild with distinctive notes of roasty dark malts, skim milk, cut weeds, and light coffee. Unimpressive coffee flavors are too distant but what is there is nothing special, not rich, not adding depth, as if an afterthought. Medium/light bodied. As a porter, it is mild, quaffable, and with a pleasantly roasty finishing bitterness, no more coffee driven than any decent porter. pintocb (511), Darsville, Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 9, 2008 Tons of coffee in the nose and flavor. Dry and light. Great coffee porter. Beardface (1018), Eugene, Oregon, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 9, 2008 I will second the earlier reviewer who said that this sucker tastes more like coffee than beer. It is cheap though and it will get the job done. Remember though, Kona, balance is the key to all things. Collint (458), Sylva, North Carolina, USA
