Aroma is dominated by the coffee but smells incredibly smooth. The taste is definite coffee but there is also a nice roasted taste with some malt finish. Very solid porter. Would buy again brokephibroke (141), Mead, Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 7, 2008 pours opague black with a significant tan head. Malty. coffee aroma. Definate coffee flavor, strong and stale. Also sweet. Palate is thin, but foam on the stash, which is a plus! CelticBrew (695), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 6, 2008 Pours black from 12 oz bottle, forming little to no foamy head, aroma of chocolates, coffee beans and coconut oil. Flavour much of the same, roasted malts present along with a particular hop balance. Pretty well made, however, the draft version I had at the recent WBF in Durham NC, seemed thicker, richer and had a good size brown foamy head. All in all, delicious and easily quaffable. fishingnet (1045), Brandon, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 5, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Sebletitje. Pours a clear dark brown with a one finger light tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of coffee and not much else. Taste is coffee and light roasted malt. Medium thin mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness. Not very complex but I like coffee and find this beer to be quite tasty. nbutler11 (760), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 3, 2008 Pours black from the bottle with a fizzy brown head that quickly dissapates. Smells and tastes of sugary coffee, faint cocoa, and toasted malts. Predominantly sweet for a porter, but with a warm alcohol finish that helps distinguish it from others in the style. radagast83 (1302), Fairfax, Virginia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 2, 2008 Draft from Northern Virginia BrewFest. Pours a very dark black color with a deep tan head. Aroma is pure coffee. Flavor is, well, coffee with notes of chocolate. Not as roasty as some coffee beers can be, but this is apparently a porter and not a stout, that could explain it. Quite wonderful. shrubber85 (2911), Wallhalben, Germany
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Oct 1, 2008 Bottle. Strong coffee and dark chocolate malt aroma. Dark brown color - tons of bubbles clinging to side of glass. Thick dark chocolate and coffee malt flavor - light kiss of hops in the finish. Excellent. SSSteve (2071), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Oct 1, 2008 dark brown with ruby highlights under a medium sized creamy tan head. coffee dominates the aroma. flavor is also loaded with coffee, so much in fact that this almost tastes like one of those chilled coffee drinks. not bitter(and raw) tasting like many coffee style beers. i really don’t even get anything similar to beer except carbonation. now normally if it doesnt resemble beer i would hate it but i’m just really impressed with the sweetness of the coffee and the low bitterness and absence of acidity and the sweet creamy flavor. they nailed this one. it’s just awesome. never had a coffee beer this good.
