Obvious aroma of coffee with roasted, vanilla, leather and nutty notes. A bit thin in body with cocoa and coffee flavors. A little chalky with a little DMS. A little lackluster. Huge roasted malts and coffee in the nose, exactly my hopes in picking up this beer for the first time. No overpowering bitterness, but just a deep flavor that’s well suited to the abundant malting and gives this beer depth (along with a killer finish). I’ll be getting this again, for sure. timsilvia32 (447), from Michigan now in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 15, 2008 Fairly solid brown pour, off whitish head. Coffee aromas. Coffee flavors, not overpowering. Some roast malt, medium/light bodied. Pretty straight forward, pretty good and drinkable porter. A good take on a coffee style beer usually reserved for the stouts. For a brewer that has some macro style to it’s other brews, this one is just unique enough. Not real complex, but definetely worth a try. LtDan (527), Los Angeles County, California, USA

Pours dark, has a huge coffee flavor and mouthfeel, and finishes very soft. It is nice ice cold or after sitting for a bit. ericandersnavy (1139), crossroads, Texas, USA
