Commercial Description:
Pipeline Porter is smooth and dark with a distinctive roasty aroma and earthy complexity from its diverse blends of premium malted barley. This celebration of malt unites with freshly roasted 100% Kona coffee grown at Cornwell Estate on Hawaii’s Big Island, lending a unique roasted aroma and flavor. Bottle, over a year old, courtesy of Beerbill. Thanks! Pours a dark dark brown, almost black, with just the faintest garnet highlights when you hold it up to light. No head to speak of. Nose is lots of dark chocolate and roasted coffee. Some dark chalky roasted malts in there too. Not a whole lot of hops. Flavor is much the same, plenty of dark roasty stuff. Lots of coffee, lots and lots of deeply roasted dark malts. There’s a little bit more hops than there was in the nose, but not really in the flavor, mostly shows up as a slight bitterness. The coffee is nicely noticeable, but not overpowering. Very nice, actually. In the mouth, it isn’t heavy, but it isn’t watery, actually pretty nice. Very nice beer, love the blend of the coffee, very very well balanced.

12oz bottle. Very dark brown with a small beige head. Decent coffee aroma of lighter-roasted beans, with some subtle roasted malt as well. sweet flavor with moderate coffee bitterness and low hops. Finishes a bit sticky. The body is on the harder side and a bit syrupy though not very thick. In a strange twist of events, the coffee is actually the best part of this beer. Mind = blown.

Dark brown pour, little film of offwhite head. Aroma is Intense Sweet coffee and cream. Smells like an iced coffee from Dunkin Donuts. Flavor isnt as strong, decent creamy mouthfeel, sweet coffee, light lactic notes. Mostly just a simple coffee porter, but what it does it does pretty well..

12 oz bottle. Not much aroma at all. What little I do smell is sweet. Pours almost black with a reddish tint. Medium head, average lacing. Tastes of roasted coffee, sugar. Creamy, milky, medium-bodied. Coffee flavor isn’t as strong as expected or was hoping. Just a decent porter.

Pours jet black with a small toffee colored head and a moderate amount of carbonation. Aroma is coffee and malt. The taste is pure coffee, I’ve said that beers tasted like coffee before but this beer is something else. I’m actually surprised not to find coffee grinds in my teeth after taking each sip. I almost feel like it should be drunk hot. It’s an interesting brew but not easy (at least for me) to have more than 1 in a session.

Well, it’s a coffee porter. It’s about as subtle as getting hit upside the head, but I sort of like that sometimes. This is what the Brooklyn Intensified Coffee Stout could have been if it weren’t so thin, dry and buzzsawingly overcarbed. Well, and the ABV difference.

This beer pours a brown color with a thin head. The aroma has strong notes of coffee. The flavor and palate are a bit thin, although the taste is slightly sweet with a nice hint of coffee. There are some nice malt notes before the beer finishes out.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass. The label has a bottled on date of “091009” notched on to it and I sampled it on 11-6-09. Appearance: It pours quite dark with a brown/black color and an average size tan head. The head hangs on well and make nice slippery lace on the glass. Smell: The aroma is sweet like brown sugar with some roasted and toasted notes as well. Hop notes are very light and subdued. Taste/Palate: Its flavor has mellow hints of brown sugar, roasted barley, burnt wood, and roasted coffee with cream. The finish comes quickly with some mellow spicy hops and solid dark roasted coffee notes fading off the tongue. It is a light to medium body porter with a creamy texture and lively carbonation. Notes: This is a very tasty very sweet and easy drinking stout that would make a great session beer or breakfast beer.
