Commercial Description:
Pipeline Porter is smooth and dark with a distinctive roasty aroma and earthy complexity from its diverse blends of premium malted barley. This celebration of malt unites with freshly roasted 100% Kona coffee grown at Cornwell Estate on Hawaii’s Big Island, lending a unique roasted aroma and flavor. A delicate blend of hops rounds out this palate-pleasing brew.

Bottle - This nice dark roasted color porter has a strong coffee aroma with hints of roasted grain. The head is light and dissipates quickly. This one took a few drinks to adjust to the strong coffee overtones but then was a really great tasting beer. I think that this has potential as a breakfast beer with the strong coffee overtones.

Draft at Fremont, WA Oktoberfest. Aroma is full of roasty grains and coffee notes, dark and very gently sweet, a hint of cocoa bean and molasses as well, and some very faint dark dried fruit. Opaque ebony color with a thin, fading head. Flavor is largely dominated by coffee, roasty and strong, with the addition of dark chocolate, black bread, toffee and maybe even some maple syrup late to mingle with the roasty and hoppy bitterness. Palate is a bit thin and watery for the style, lightly effervescent feel. Light-medium body. Lingering impression is that of iced, sweetened coffee with a dosage of cream.

A dark-bodied beer, with dark roasted, black-patent malts a pipeline through this porter in flavor in aroma. Strong deep, dry coffee flavor. Solid

Pouts very dark brown with a light brown head. Aroma of coffee and dark chocolate. Coffee is definitely the dominant flavor, but no so much so that it becomes overbearing, as in many coffee beers. Chocolate, some earthiness, and a mild acidity as well. Medium bodied. Could use some more malt depth, IMHO, but pretty dman good nonetheless. Bottle from Liquid Solutions. I can finally check Hawaii off on my ’States Rated’ list!

On tap at Kona Brewery on the Big Island (woohoo). This beer poured very dark with a light head. Nose was of chocolate and coffee. Taste was about the same. Thin mouth. Drank at dinner twice at Kona Brewery. Both times with their coconut ice cream for desert.
